February 23, 2022 — The 25th annual charity cup hockey game, “Battle of the Badges” will take place on Saturday, March 19th at Ebersole Ice Rink in White Plains with the White Plains Firefighters facing off against the White Plains Police Officers at 6 p.m. A fee of $5.00 will be charged at the door. All proceeds for the event benefit Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (RMHGHV). RMHGHV serves as a home-away-from-home for families with a critically ill child. Located in Valhalla, just steps away from Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center, the 12-bedroom House keeps families together and close to the care and resources they need during their child’s medical treatment.
Two former RMHGHV families officially kick off the event and drop the puck to start the “Battle of the Badges.” The Cadden and Nesbit families, both residents of Dutchess County, stayed at RMHGHV when their sons were sick and being treated at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. In 2014, 10 year old Sean Cadden was admitted to the hospital for
relapsed ALL (AcuteLymphoblastic Leukemia) and remained hospitalized for 63 nights. Sean’s father, Pat Cadden is a Town of Newburgh Police Sergeant.
The Nesbitt family stayed in the Fall of 2019 for 25 nights while their 17 year old son, Joe, was treated in the PICU after an accident. Patrick Nesbit, Joe’s father, is a former Police Detective/Patrol Officer for the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. He currently works part-time as a Police Officer in East Fishkill, N.Y. Both Sean and Joe are doing well and will be dropping the puck at the game.
Raffle and auction prizes include autographed hockey memorabilia, vacation packages, Lego sets and more. For more information on the “Battle of the Badges” visit www.rmhghv.org.
