Help the Cause: Donate or Join the Run

This is Jakob and his family. Jakob is an incredibly strong 6-year-old boy who has been bravely fighting a rare degenerative mitochondrial disease for over five years. His parents, David and Elizabeth Schultz, have stayed with us at the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley during his many hospitalizations.

In their continued effort to support our House, Jakob’s father, David Schultz, will be partaking in The New Paltz Challenge half marathon run on June 16, 2019.

All proceeds generated toward his personal 1/2 marathon fundraising campaign will directly benefit the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley.

The Schultz Family and Our Walk Over the Hudson

Mom and Dad, a.k.a David and Elizabeth have shared:

“Our family first learned about the Ronald McDonald House back in 2014, when our son Jakob, then only 7 months old, fell ill with a rare mitochondrial disorder. Our world was totally up-ended; we were thrust into uncertainty and worry … and we were many, many miles from the comfort of home or familiar faces.

It was the Ronald McDonald House, of course, that provided a solid base of support during this time, giving us all those things that might seem trivial compared to the crisis itself — but without which a family can’t focus its attention on their sick child.

Since 2014 we have had numerous additional hospitalizations for Jakob. Each and every time, the Ronald McDonald house was there for us … and for that, our family will be eternally grateful. Realizing how important a role the Ronald McDonald House played in our lives compels us to take every opportunity we can to raise awareness of the benefit the Ronald McDonald House provides to the Hudson Valley.”

Over the last 5 years, the Schultz family has given back to our organization in a multitude of ways, including becoming a major part of our first-ever Walk Over the Hudson in 2018.

This year, the Schultz clan will return for our 2019 Walk Over the Hudson.
